Laurence Gauvin
Nutritionist, expert in eating disorders in adults and adolescents
Hello, my name is Laurence Gauvin, and I am the founder and director of the LauGau Nutrition – Eating Disorders – Anti-Diet clinic. I hold a bachelor’s degree and a professional master’s degree in nutrition from the Université de Montréal, and I also have 15 years of experience in nutritional counseling.
While pursuing my studies, I worked as a professional model for the Specs and Ema agencies. My master’s thesis focused on the Quebec Charter for a Healthy and Diverse Body Image, developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec (INSPQ). This allowed me to deepen my understanding of the impact that the media and the fashion industry can have on excessive weight concerns among women. I also studied the factors contributing to today’s thinness ideal, issues related to body dissatisfaction, as well as the social context of anorexia and bulimia.
After earning my degree, my passion for the treatment of eating disorders led me to work in private practice with adolescents and adults living with anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder. To further deepen my expertise, I completed several specialized training programs focused on disordered eating behaviors and their treatment. I also completed an internship in the eating disorders unit at Sainte-Justine Hospital and facilitated discussion groups on a volunteer basis with Aneb Québec.
Always staying up to date with the latest research in nutrition, and driven by a strong interest in making information accessible, I give lectures to healthcare professionals and supervise nutritionists working in the field of eating disorders. I also enjoy hosting radio segments and providing nutritional advice at public events.
