The M.I.R.R.O.R Project

70$
(offered to the artistic community who are grieving over their body image as they age)

Your artistic or athletic body has given so much. It has been the brush, the instrument, the stage. But today, the reflection in the mirror has changed. This course is for anyone who uses their body as a means of expression and is grieving for it.
Project M.I.R.O.I.R is much more than a group course. It’s an emotional journey to honor the past and welcome the present. It’s a space where you’re no longer just a body, but a creative spirit or resilient soul.
Ready to make peace with your reflection, redefine your strength and rediscover yourself? The mirror awaits you, not to judge you, but to reveal the beauty of your new story.

Does that ring a bell?

  1. Are you part of the artistic community (model, actor, journalist?) Do you have an athletic background?
  2. Do you feel that your relationship with your body is becoming increasingly negative as a result of age-related physical changes?
  3. Are you mourning the loss of your former body, which allowed you to express your art or practice your profession?
  4. Have you had to adapt your artistic practice because of ageing or certain aesthetic requirements?

Topics covered:

– M. Me, My Body, My Friend, My Story: Exploring the relationship with one’s former body and the body of today.
– I. Immersion in the actual body: inhabiting the body with its limits and new possibilities.
– R.Reinventing artistic identity: Share the stories of artists who have reinvented themselves in the face of physical challenges or life changes.
– O. Opening up to new perspectives: Seeing your body as something other than physical.
– I. Integrating mindfulness: learning to live with and be present to your body.
– R.Wealth and resilience: A journey towards acceptance that requires courage and vulnerability. Recognizing the strength that can emerge from this ordeal.

Laurence Gauvin

Nutritionist, Expert in Eating Disorders in Adults and Adolescents

Hello, my name is Laurence Gauvin, and I am the founder and director of the LauGau Nutrition – Eating Disorders – Anti-Diet clinic. I hold a bachelor’s degree and a professional master’s degree in nutrition from the Université de Montréal, and I have 15 years of experience in nutritional counseling.

While pursuing my studies, I worked as a professional model for the Specs and Ema agencies. My master’s thesis focused on the Quebec Charter for a Healthy and Diverse Body Image, developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec (INSPQ). This work allowed me to deepen my understanding of the impact that the media and the fashion industry can have on excessive weight concerns among women. I also studied the factors contributing to today’s thinness ideal, issues related to body dissatisfaction, as well as the social context of anorexia and bulimia.

After completing my degree, my passion for treating eating disorders led me to work in private practice with adolescents and adults living with anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder. To further develop my expertise, I completed several specialized training programs focused on disordered eating behaviors and their treatment. I also completed an internship in the eating disorders unit at Sainte-Justine Hospital and facilitated discussion groups on a volunteer basis with Aneb Québec.

Always staying up to date with the latest research in nutrition and driven by a strong interest in making information accessible, I give lectures to healthcare professionals and supervise nutritionists working in the field of eating disorders. I also enjoy hosting radio segments and providing nutritional advice at public events.
